Frail, refined lala is the daughter of a prominent judge who lives in an exclusive neighbourhood in buenos aires. Unbeknown to her family, she is having an illicit relationship with ailin, their voluptuous guaraní maid from paraguay. together they steal money from lala's unscrupulous father so they can escape to the lush lake ypoá where ailin spent her childhood. but when lala's father is murdered and ailin is taken into custody, lala must unravel her lover's dark past if they are to be reunited.
Lavender Screen is Cardiff's lesbian and bi film club.
From the award-winning director of xxy, this title is part of a touring package from the London Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Film Festival.

Deborah Withers adventures in Kate bush and theory

Drawing on elements of feminism, queer theory, post-colonial theory and fairy tales, Deborah Withers uses the music, film, video and dance of Kate bush to explore ideas of subjectivity and the body. this performance/lecture includes material from Withers' new book, and attempts to unravel the mystery and complexity of key themes in Kate bush's art, from her debut 'Wuthering heights' to her most recent album 'aerial'.
Withers' acclaimed work breaks down boundaries between the academic and popular, presenting theoretical interpretations that are lively, engaging and funny.

During his 10 year swim-a-thon he has kept a record of his experience through detailed diaries and photographs. At Sea explores one man's observations of places, obsessive swimming, death and performance art.

The second installment in the Swedish thiller trilogy sees crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist decide to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation. On the eve of its publication, two reporters responsible for the article are murdered. The fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to his friend, troubled genius hacker Lisbeth Salander. Blomkvist, convinced of Salander's innocence, plunges into an investigation. Meanwhile, Salander herself is forced to face her dark past.

The Iris Prize

The Iris Prize'' is an international gay and lesbian short film prize which is open to any short film which is by, for, about or of interest to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex audiences and which must have been completed within 2 years prior to the prize deadline.
The Prize is open to film makers from around the world and judged by a panel of international filmmakers and artists. The winner will receive the largest prize for a gay and lesbian short film in the world - a package valued at £25,000 - allowing the winner to make their next short film.
The Prize is awarded during a four -day festival held in Cardiff which presents a programme of screenings including the 30 competing short films and 6 features, panel sessions with visiting film makers and culminates in a closing night award ceremony.
The Iris Prize has secured the support of lesbian and gay film festivals from around the world, creating a single international platform with the intention of raising the profile of lesbian and gay cinema and helping a new generation of filmmakers achieve success on the international stage. Each of the partner festivals selects one film annually to participate in the Iris Prize. The partner festivals include Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Sydney, Dublin, London, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Miami, Montreal and Hong Kong.

John Barrowman, Britain's most successful - and comfortably Britain's best - all-round entertainer releases his third solo album, the self-titled John Barrowman this week on Arista and has now announced a brand new 23 date UK Tour including a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
John Barrowman is one of the most familiar faces on British television and the West End stage. Best known for playing Captain Jack Harkness in the BBC series’ Torchwood and Doctor Who, he has also been a judge on the award-winning BBC1 entertainment shows How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, Any Dream Will Do and I’d Do Anything. More recently he has hosted his own primetime Saturday night TV extravaganza, Tonight's The Night and graced London’s West End as Zaza in the Olivier Award-winning La Cage Aux Folles. John Barrowman recently announced he has accepted a role in the hit TV show Desperate Housewives and will start filming imminently.
